Both Inconel and Monel are nickel - bearing alloys. However, in addition to nickel as the primary alloy, they also include other elements as secondary alloys. Monel, for example, is made of copper, which accounts for 30 to 40 percent of its total weight. Inconel contains chromium as a secondary alloy.
In terms of its properties, Monel alloy is a kind of medium performance alloy, while ni-cr-ni alloy is a kind of high performance alloy. Several inconel alloys are also known as superalloys because they have excellent corrosion resistance in addition to being superior to several conventional alloys at high temperatures. Monel is a solution binary metal while Inconel is an austenitic superalloy.
