Like other common austenitic steels, Alloy 440b Round Bars is subject to corrosion cracking in chloride environments above 60°C. The manufacture of these Grade 440b Round Bars should only be done with tools intended for steel materials. If this is not the case, rust will form on this 440b Stainless Steel Round Bars, as with other non-stainless steels.
Continuous use in the range of 425 degrees C to 860 degrees C in Stainless Steel 440b Bars is generally not recommended due to carbide precipitation. Stainless Steel 440b Rods is generally not low in carbon, and so is prone to sensitization.
