Recently, TISCO Group's environmental product statements for three major types of stainless steel (austenitic, ferritic and martensitic) cold rolled sheets were successfully released on the EPD platform of the steel industry, marking that TISCO's major stainless steel products have completed the quantitative evaluation of the full life-cycle carbon footprint, which can provide customers and related parties with authoritative and credible product environmental information and help build a low-carbon supply chain system.
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a transparent and comparable environmental information document that carries the whole life cycle of a product and has a high recognition in the international arena. Based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), it discloses the environmental impact of a product or service on non-renewable resources, ecosystems, human health, etc. throughout its life cycle from raw material acquisition, production, transportation, consumption and final end-of-life disposal. Driven by the increasing demand for quantitative environmental information in the global market, EPD has gradually developed and received widespread attention and recognition from various countries. On May 19 this year, China's first EPD platform for industrial products, the EPD platform for the steel industry, was officially launched by the China Iron and Steel Industry Association and Baowu.
TISCO conscientiously implements the national carbon peaking and carbon neutral strategy, resolutely executes Baowu's carbon emission reduction schedule and roadmap, accelerates the "double carbon" work layout, and releases the carbon peaking and carbon reduction action plan on May 30 this year, proposing "13460" (one low carbon development center, three low carbon development centers, one low carbon development platform, and one low carbon development platform). The green and low-carbon development model of "13460" (one low-carbon development center, three low-carbon development stages, four low-carbon implementation steps, six low-carbon development paths, and the ultimate goal of zero carbon) has been proposed, depicting a clear blueprint for TISCO to achieve the "double carbon" goal. The key contents are to carry out the carbon footprint evaluation of the whole life cycle of products (LCA) and to publish the environmental product declaration.
The person in charge of TISCO said that TISCO will give full play to the role of EPD to enhance the brand image, improve environmental decision-making, quantify environmental performance, meet user needs and promote green consumption, continue to collect, organize and evaluate the carbon footprint of other products, and through continuous exploration and innovation of low-carbon processes, promote the ultimate energy efficiency, highlight the value of green products, and make TISCO Group strive to become a global low-carbon stainless steel industry TISCO Group will strive to become the flagship of low carbon development in the global stainless steel industry and the leading enterprise in low carbon metallurgical science and technology innovation, and become the leader in the collaborative development of industrial clusters, the pioneer in the promotion and application of advanced materials, the promoter of wisdom for a better life, and the leader in low carbon metallurgical science and technology innovation.
